‘Love & Hip Hop’ is a very lucrative franchise

The franchise produces some of the most popular and recognizable reality television series in the entire world. After starting with Love & Hip Hop: New York, three other shows were conceived: Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

Not only do the shows have notable and established musical acts like Rasheeda, Trina, and Juelz Santana, it has also served as a launching pad for a lot of other artists. Cardi B., K. Michelle, Amara La Negra, and many others were first introduced to most audiences on the show.

Still, the show has been critiqued for its portrayals of Black women. This is something that its creator, Mona Scott-Young, has addressed before. She told Forbes in 2019, “To have a franchise that represents our culture, our people and to have that kind of staying power and the ability to invent and reinvent as we expand into different cities to me that’s probably what I’m proudest of. [It’s] the ability to provide the jobs both in front of and behind the scenes… to women and people of color as well.”

Two cast members have net worths higher than $10 million

Two cast members in particular have a net worth that is over $10 million. They are from two different shows. As an actor on classic show, a singer with hit songs, and an entrepreneur, it is no surprise that one of these stars is Ray J of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. Brandy’s younger brother has a net worth of $14 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. There is also Soulja Boy, who has a net worth of $30 million (per Celebrity Net Worth), but he is no longer on the show and only appeared in a few episodes.

Currently, Yandy Smith-Harris of Love & Hip Hop: New York is the cast member with the highest net worth. Smith’s net worth is $15 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Smith’s net worth exceeds that of major or established music acts like Cardi B, Remy Ma, Stevie J and more.
